Auspicious Coincidence? …

There are days when things just seem to happen naturally - what I think my father would call an Auspicious Coincidence. Today is Winter Solstice, a Buddhist holiday I remember celebrating when I was younger (having been raised in the path of many Buddhist Hippies). And so, it seemed appropriate that Rick should bring home a wonderful find.
Rick was just browsing when he came across this statue in the back of a small imports shop. It is carved from a single piece of quartz, and has characteristically Tibetan features and decoration - including a sun wheel on the chest. The merchant said it was from 1940’s Tibet. (We assume that can only mean “plundered by the Chinese and sold for export”.) Fortunately, it has arrived in our hands for safekeeping, and we will gladly house and protect it. How amazing and unexpected!

Auspicious indeed, it does seem that this Buddha has made its way to your safe keeping. I’m glad you were able to meet up. Blessed Solstice!
